Cavender's House by Edwin Arlington Robinson is the gripping tale of a man confronted by the wife he murdered. Yikes! His guilt and remorse are laid bare. The book plums the depths of what could cause Cavender to do the unthinkable. Cavender's House is his prison with many locked doors. His conversations with the woman he was supposed to have loved "till death do them part" leave the reader turning the pages for more and more answers. This first edition print was not cut properly so many of the pages are uncut. Hence they were impossible to turn. Instead, I had to read it as one peering into a tube on these pages. I did not “fix” the mis-cutting done by the original printers as it only makes this volume more valuable to a collector. If you think your wife is a nag when they are alive wait until you read what a dead one sounds like! Buy this book and experience for yourself the suspense and the poetic majestic escape that is Cavender’s dead wife bothering him.
